I host quite a few different sites from my web server, however I am not involved in any technical aspects of the sites themselves. This page lists web sites that I do not own, but I am involved in many technical aspects of the site, or some parts of the design. Such a site is usually one where I have a close involvement with the company or individual concerned.
Balanced Bodies is a small Pilates studio in Zurich. The owner, Lynn Waktins, provides a full range of Pilates personal training, including use of all the Pilates equipment. I do my Pilates training with her and have written up some more Pilates information if anyone is interested (auch auf Deutsch). She uses her site to provide information to her clients, as well as to find new clients. I assist her with some elements of the design, proof reading content (occasionally), technical support for the Joomla! installation and upgrade process and giving suggestions about layout, template choice, graphic design, as well as making the site friendly for search engines.

Note that this website has now moved to www.symetris-pilates.ch
Symetris Pilates was the successor to Balanced Bodies. The company changed name, location, logo, everything. Therefore a new site was required. This time I was more heavily involved and ended up writing all of the content myself as well building the site itself. I think the new site was certainly an improvement on the old one. You can find details about the graphic work here.

My Japanese teacher, Keigo Aoki, approached me about setting up a web site. I had previously suggested this to him, but he didn't really see it as a priority. The problem was that it was extremely hard for people in Cape Town to find him as he was the only Japanese teacher in the entire city! After a second teacher appeared on the scene he became a little concerned and decided that he should maybe have a web site to attract more students. I was happy to oblige and did a quick search for the domain name japanese.co.za. Available! What does that say about the state of the internet in South Africa - when in 2005 you can still register a common word such as "Japanese" as your domain name? I built a quick Joomla! installation for him and showed him the basics of putting up his content. The site is currently a work in progress, and I assist from time to time when I can. I've written a little bit about his business over at the resources page.
