These are the photos from my Trek to the Base Camp of Everest in Sept/Oct 2002.

Also trekking with me were Alan and Mel. The trek was arduous and strenuous, but highly rewarding. We made it to Base Camp, but only barely back again.
Thanks to our Nepalese friends who came out looking for us when we had not returned to Gorak Shep from Base Camp.
We would probably have made it back with our crappy compass and torch and our bare remaining strength - but your shouts in the dark and the mist did certainly help us.

Apologies to all those we offended along the way, (who made such a point of letting us know when we returned from Base after dark.)
Apologies to the group of Poles who turned back before we did, after giving us advice to do the same - we made it and you didn't.
Thankyou also to the manufacturers of Diamox and to the lovely folks at the HRA for their hospitality and friendliness (and also the use of their Gamow bags)*

Hello also to those of you who spread rumours of the "Base Camp Bad Boys" which proceeded us down the track back.
Sorry if you let your own disappointment at your personal lack of achievement cause resentment to others.
This album was assembled using JAlbum, although the formatting was mostly all done by hand. For information on how I did it, please go here. I will be making the skin publicly available, should anyone wish to use it to build their own albums.

*Note: Diamox and Gamow bags are not recommended as the way to avoid altitude sickness on a tight time budget. Please inform yourself of the risks of AMS before a trek at high altitude!
